STARTING WITH GRADE
We offer four grades of sustainably sourced French oak for our wood floors: Rustic, Classic, Pristine and Heritage. Each grade is characterised by the amount of knots, sapwood, grain and colour variation that is naturally present in the wood.

OUR GRADES
RUSTIC
Our most characterful grade, these floors are filled with rich grains, charming knots and natural colour variations, celebrating all that's unique about wood.
Rustic grade wood is sourced from the outside of the tree trunk, where the oak cosies up to the bark, which is why more sapwood is present here. Frequent, larger knots will be found in this grade of floor too, since the branches here are wider before growing out of the tree. It’s all part of what gives this floor its personality and charm – and will be certain to bring that natural, lived-in feel to your home.
OUR GRADES
CLASSIC
Featuring medium sized knots and some tonal variation, this grade is not as characterful as the Rustic grade, nor as uniformly clean as the Pristine grade. The perfect middle ground between modern sophistication and rustic charm.
The oak used in this grade comes from the middle half of the tree trunk. This is where smaller branches are growing, which creates the presence of medium sized knots, some sapwood and natural imperfections – although these will be less distinct than those found in our Rustic grade wood. Ideal for those who love the natural authenticity of wood flooring, yet desire a more tamed overall appearance. A true classic.
OUR GRADES
PRISTINE
Our cleanest grade using oak from the heart of the trunk for a smaller number of knots and minimal sapwood. Consistent tones across the floor creates an overall uniform appearance.
Since it only uses oak from the heart of the tree, this grade of wood is rarer than the more characterful grades. Here, there are less branches forming, resulting in
much smaller and less frequent knots, minimal sapwood and only the smallest amount of tonal variation. The refined characteristics of this grade pave the way for a beautifully balanced floor with a smart, modern edge.

HERITAGE
Planed by hand, this grade is rustic by nature with an undulated surface texture and distressed bevelled edges to authentically emulate a naturally aged wooden floor.
The rich grains and charming knots are beautifully accentuated using a combination of expert crafting techniques for a uniquely organic floor that looks like it's been down for years. Glide your hand across its tactile surface to feel the subtle undulations, and observe as the light dances across each plank, bringing the floor alive with texture and movement. Real showstopper floors which look stunning in period-style properties, and add definition to sleek, contemporary spaces.
