5 Home Trends That Won’t Date
As we enter a new year, many of us have plans for our home – whether that’s renewing, renovating or moving to a new abode altogether. Whilst interior trends can be a great way to revamp our living spaces, it’s a good idea to introduce trends through items that can be easily changed up such as paint colours, décor pieces and soft furnishings. Mix these in with classic choices that you’re naturally drawn to and items that make you happy for a home that you’ll never tire of.
Here’s our top 5 interior investments which we believe will never go out of fashion.
Kitchen Islands
Today’s kitchen has become much more of a living space, rather than being the functional area of the home it used to be. Often the hub of family life, kitchens are the epitome of open plan living and often incorporate sofas, work stations and dining areas.
Providing there’s enough space, kitchen islands are the perfect option for social cooking and entertaining, so it’s not surprising that a lot of new kitchens now incorporate an island on some scale. Choose a contrasting colour to your wall units or add glamour with pendant lighting and slick seating.
Wooden Flooring
Of course we would say that, but we’d be hard pushed to find anyone who disagrees! Wooden flooring adds warmth and timeless appeal to a home, so it’s not surprising that they have been a popular flooring choice for centuries. The move towards engineered wood flooring means that wooden floors are now far more stable and quicker to install, as well as being a more environmentally friendly flooring option. Choose classic parquet for added interest in both traditional and modern settings, or opt for a clean straight plank as the perfect foundation for your furnishings.

Built In Shelving
If our Pinterest and Instagram accounts are anything to go by, those houses we swoon after all have one thing in common; built in storage. From alcove shelving in traditional Victoria semis, to the new work from home office, built in storage will add a sense of organisation, as well as giving you somewhere to show off all of those books and home décor pieces you’ve collected over the years. Everybody loves a good ‘shelfie’ and we’re certainly not complaining.
Oak Dining Tables
Invest in an oak dining table and you’ll keep it for decades. Naturally durable and robust, an oak dining table is resilient and will get better with age! With both traditional styles and more modern Scandi designs, oak dining tables will look at home in every interior and will add a ‘lived in’ feel to more polished settings.
Free Standing Baths
Whether it’s a traditional roll top bath or a modern curved stone finish, free standing baths are here to stay. Bathrooms have taken on a ‘spa-like’ ambiance in our homes, offering a sanctuary in which we can relax and unwind, and baths are taking centre-stage in these zen spaces. If you’re lucky enough to have a bathroom that’s big enough to house a free-standing bath, you most certainly won’t regret it. The bigger the better we say!
