The Hottest Interior Trends For 2023
Whether you’re full of plans and lists for the year ahead, or you'd prefer to hide under a blanket until March, there’s no getting away from the fact that it’s another New Year. In terms of home interiors, 2023 is set to be an interesting year as we continue to appreciate our homes more than ever before. From hybrid working spaces, to room upgrades and DIY projects, the trends for this year are all about finding joy within our homes and reflecting our individual personalities and lifestyles. So kick off that blanket and get planning!
Vibrant Paint Colours
2023 is the year that is all about embracing the things that bring us joy, rather than being overly led by trends and set 'themes' within our interiors. As opposed to styling our homes for the approval of others, we are being encouraged to find out what makes us feel good and run with it. Expect bright paint colours, upcycled furniture and handmade touches galore.
Bringing The Outdoors In
We’re continuing our love of the outdoors this year and embracing biophilia throughout our interiors. Botanical prints are set to be big news in 2023 – whether its artwork, wallpaper, cushions or bed linen, embracing this trend will brighten up your interior and bring on the feel good factor.
Or, if you prefer the real deal, grab some cut flowers or fresh foliage from your garden and display around your house for that instant pick me up.
Considered Living Spaces
With interest rates on the up, and house prices on the down, more home owners are planning to stay put. With this trend, there’s a growing appetite to invest in our homes and upgrade our living spaces, just for the joy of it.
Gone are the days of the cluttered utility, the neglected downstairs loo and the ‘spare’ room. Think laundry shoots, powder rooms and hotel-inspired suites, complete with walk in wardrobes and spa-like bathrooms.
Layered Textures
This trend has been growing over the last couple of years and there’s no sign of it going anywhere fast. Incorporating different layers of texture into any design scheme can add depth and interest. Think natural materials such as sisal or jute stair runners, marble worktops, engineered wood flooring and unfinished ceramics.
Tactile soft furnishings such as boucle sofas and ultra soft bedding are also on many a wish list for 2023. This layering approach can work particularly well in a more neutral colour scheme, softening the overall look for a warm and welcoming environment.
Flexible Spaces
As we use our homes more than ever before, we are getting the most out of them with more flexible spaces and smart functionality. With more of us taking a permanent approach to hybrid working, our home work stations are growing in style and sophistication and the garden office continues to be a popular addition.
There’s also a trend towards temporary partitions and room dividers to give us more flexibility on how we use the spaces within our home. Broken living spaces (as opposed to open living spaces) enables changing them throughout the day or week, dependent upon the needs of the household.
