Article: Cosy Up Your Home For Autumn

Cosy Up Your Home For Autumn

It seems like the summer just started but, believe it or not, Autumn is fast approaching! The days will start getting shorter, and the nights colder. It’s important that your home is a cosy oasis where you can escape the dropping temperatures. There are lots of ways to adjust your interior design concept to better fit the vibes of autumn, and they range from very budget-friendly, to a valuable investment. If you’re considering making your home a bit comfier in preparation for autumn, keep reading to discover our favourite tips!

Consider Dark Wood Flooring

While lighter shades of woods have been in style for the past few years, dark wood flooring is making a major comeback. Especially going into the winter months. Some nice deep oak flooring creates a cocooning effect, giving the entire space a calmer tone.

Swap Out Your Lightbulbs

If you’re looking to change the vibe of your home on a budget, lighting is the way to go. Light bulbs come in different temperatures, from stark white to very yellow. Often, people will use different lighting in different rooms based on what they use the room for. For example, bright white bulbs (3500K-4100K) are great for an office space where you’re hoping to stay alert, focused, and productive.

So, if you’re looking to warm up your space, consider changing your lightbulbs to soft white (2700K-3000K). It will give the entire room a more relaxed and cosy feeling, and pair well with other autumn design choices like dark wood flooring and soft textiles.

Get Chunky Wool Carpets

Nothing beats waking up on one of the first chilly mornings in autumn to step on extremely comfortable wool carpets. Consider getting chunky wool carpets in your bedrooms, either with rugs or full carpeting. While wood flooring will add warmth to your home, adding some carpet also will make the entire space cosier. You’ll be more excited to come home when you know you’ll be stepping on extremely soft wool carpets.

Add Soft Textiles

Consider adding some soft textiles to your space to prepare it for autumn. This could be knit throws, blankets, new pillow covers, or area rugs. These are easily changed in and out for each season, so no matter what time of year, your home will look and feel its best!

Incorporate Warm Décor

Incorporating warm, fall-themed décor pieces is a very simple way to make your home fit the season! Some great ideas for fall décor include spiced candles, dried flowers and grasses, warm toned textiles, a knit puff, wall art depicting scenes of autumn, wicker baskets to hold your blankets, and decorative gourds.

Invest In Underfloor Heating

If you’re in a place to invest some money into upgrading your home, heated flooring is the way to go. Imagine your beautiful bespoke engineered wood flooring or bathroom tile being able to heat up in minutes. As the days get colder, heated flooring will feel absolutely amazing, and be completely worth the investment.

Remember, all of our flooring collections at Knot & Grain are suitable for underfloor heating, so the choice really is yours!
